| These are some photos I have of that enormous undertaking.
They wanted approximately 2,000 servings of cake and little decoration (Thank God!).
I talked to my husband and he agreed to bake all the sheet cakes. I made the whip
cream icing. It was a daunting task just to pick up all the cakes, icing and get
all the spatulas, tips down to the park. My son, son-in-law, two daughters and niece
who are also decorators, and two of our friends came and helped get this very large
cake assembled and decorated. Due to its size it had to be totally
assembled at the site where it was to be eaten. Kennedy Park was full all that weekend.
All of us worked all day getting all the icing, cutting the boards, and lace pieces
together. It was to be a surprise cake during the celebration that day. But, all those people
saw what was going on and someone called the newspaper over. Needless to say, the
surprise cake was in the paper the next morning. |
